Tree of Life/Levensboom
The Tree of Life is an important symbol in nearly every culture. With its branches reaching into the sky, and roots deep in the soil, it reaches into three worlds- a link between heaven, the earth, and the underworld, uniting above and below. Many old Dutch (farm) house have the Tree of life in the window above the door. It symbolize also the succession of generations of the farm. These door windows mainly occur in the Protestant parts of Holland
